This was the best season Marshall’s football team has had in the past twelve years. This season their win-to-loss ratio was 6-4. The whole team was happy that this happened because they have been practicing hard for this to happen and expected nothing else but winning. There was lots happening this season that made season one to remember. Besides it being the best in twelve years, there were lots of injuries and lots of players getting suspended. The team pulled through with a mindset of winners. This was just a small price to pay for the winning season. This was all thanks to the football coach, Scott Faer, who said that he is very proud of the team.

The last game of the season was between our Mighty Eagles against Rosemead  also known as “Senior Night”. It is the night where the whole team says their farewells to the seniors who will not be with the team next season. Lots of marshall students went to the game despite it also being the night of the Turkey Tussle. This shows lots of school spirit. All the seniors were so sad that this was their final game. But, that did not stop them from remembering all the memories they had with the entire team.

I got some seniors to share some of their cherished memories with the team.

“One of my best memories playing varsity was Senior Night  because nobody expected us to win because most of the school went to the turkey tussle. We showed people wrong when the clock hit zero and everybody in the seats went crazy. It was a great moment to he with the team one last time”, said #58, Lawrence Villescas.

“My best memory of playing football was meeting new friends. I came in knowing about three people and know the whole team has become like family to me. I know they will have my back and I will have theirs, said #52, Anthony “Juice” Hernandez.

During off-season the team worked very hard with the mindset that they were going to change the history of Marshall. Determination, setting goals, and passion are a few characteristics that describe the team. This was the best season in years.

For the future of Marshall’s football team: Remember to keep it up. Keep on staying focused in the classroom, field, and weight room. The team has changed the culture of the school’s football team.
