Liberty Club

December 10, 2018
This week, I had an opportunity to sit down with the liberty club at Marshall, a small group of students who gather every other Friday to discuss politics and current events. They meet in Mr. Lee´s room during lunch and crowd around in a loose circle, debating ferociously their points of view.
While chowing down on sups, sandwiches, and salami, they debate social liberalism and the benefits and drawbacks thereof. ¨We try to get people interested in politics,¨ said club president, Anthony Minasian. ¨We just want to help prevent people from following dangerous and fallacious ideologies, by exposing people to debate, where their ideas are challenged. That helps them figure out what really works.¨ The Liberty Club gives people an place to discuss their worldview, and the freedom to do so.
