It’s that time of the year  again! Springtime! Do you know what that means? NO? Well here is a tip…. Softball is back! Back at it again with the DUB. We’re not the only ones excited about softball. The ladies are very anxious to see how their season will come out to be, and whether or not they will make it into playoffs.

This season, with seniors Kailey Henderson and Kaylah Abdullah as their captains, the girls are more than positive that they will win season. “This year, our team is looking better than ever. We have many underclassmen and they are very energetic which is good because usually the seniors are very lazy, so they don’ really try. But my dad is the coach this year, so I’m gonna do my best to captain this team to winning ways and do my best to make my father proud.” stated captain Kailey Henderson after their latest game against Rio Hondo on March 8th, in which the Eagles won 11-1! Good job ladies.

This year, their league is a very difficult one. With schools such as Gabrielino and South El Monte. Last season, South El Monte won the league for softball, and they are surely looked upon to winning it again. But with the way the Lady Eagles are looking this season, there could be an upset. But anything is possible in sports. “Yeah our team is good, we’re always good, but it’s always about our mentality and approach to the game. This year, we started with a very positive approach to the season, and that has paid off. We won our pre-season games 10-0 and 12-1 and games like that. So we MUST continue with our positive mentality. We can definitely win season, and who knows, maybe even CIF.” stated Coach Henderson at their practice.

So, can the Ladies go for it all this season? Maybe. We’ll see on March 18th at their next game against Catalina. Go Ladies!
